Mindfulness is a way of befriending ourselves and our experiences. -Jon Kabat-Zinn

Mindful Living Social Work, LCSW, LLC was founded by Delnisha Baker to provide people of color with a safe space to work through their trauma, beliefs, and values without fear of being misunderstood or judged. Here, therapy can be used not only for those with mental health diagnoses but for those who seek general emotional, mental, and physical wellness through trauma-informed and mindfulness practices. Training and workshops are also offered to future and current professionals seeking to expand their knowledge on trauma-informed practices and more.

Trauma-informed and mindfulness modalities are the foundations of treatment, as they are both effective at addressing life’s stressors and providing one with the skills needed to take back their life.

Trauma-informed practice recognizes that a wide range of distressing or disturbing events, real or perceived, impacts a person’s emotional, behavioral, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. It recognizes that the responses to these events are unique and that some are easier to identify than others. You do not have to identify as a trauma survivor to benefit from this treatment. During trauma-informed therapy, you can expect to address the underlying reasons for depression and anxiety or the impact of life events such as abuse, separation, death, and violence. You will learn more about what you are experiencing, the functioning of your current coping mechanisms, as well as healthier ways to cope.

Mindfulness is incorporated in your session to help you maintain awareness of your thoughts, body, and emotions without judgment. Research has shown that mindfulness practices can reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and increase cognitive flexibility. While mindfulness is often associated with meditation, there are many ways to practice mindfulness. Treatment is tailored to your individual needs.

My service range extends to the whole of New York and Westchester County.
